John has a diverse educational background, with degrees in Biology, Chemistry and Landscape Architecture.  He began painting abstracts in 2006, but  became obsessed with photography, in particular, wildlife photography about five years later. His abstract style helped him transition into creating whimsical and unique wildlife art. He has spent countless hours on land and in the sea sharing space with sea turtles, tiger sharks, manatees, African lions, orcas and grizzly bears. He observes these animals in their natural environments, photographing and sketching them as inspiration for his work.
